Photoshop wolf eye

I got photo shop at home and I liked what the people who where doing the concept art were doing. I wanted to learn how to do a detailed shading drawing on photo shop. I have watched a few speed painting on You Tube and I always thought they where really good. So I did a little practise in my free time at home on photo shop. This was my first on so I drew something that was close up and detailed not a whole character. I was just a test. Here is a wolf's eye on photo shop.
Ok this is the finished one.

To do this I went through different stages.
First I drew the outline for the eye in pencil on photoshop.
Then I drew over the eye with the pen tool so you could see it properly.
So now I could see were to colour in. I then got the paint brush tool and coloured it in with the simple colours you could see. I also blended some of the colour for the grey part of the eye.
I used the paint tool and found the colours I wanted to blend together. I basically painted a few line of the colours slowly becoming the other in between the two colours. then I used the smudge tool to make it look more effective.

So then finally adding the background and some more brush strokes to make it look like the final (at the top of page).

Before the animation project I did a practise walk cycle of a wolf in an animation program I have at home. I knew we where doing a walk cycle for our first project in unit 54. So because I animate wolves a lot at home i thought ive never done a walk cycle so i decided to do a simple one for practise before the unit.

early character development

Early development of Ratchet from (Ratchet and Clank)

Taking the style of art work you like and using it in your own work. I used to draw all the time and I started to realise that the style that I drew in actually looked similar to a game character in a game I used to play a lot when I was younger. I only noticed this recently that my style of drawing has obviously been influenced from Ratchet and Clank.

Though my characters don't usually wear clothes like Ratchet does I can see that this particular game character has influenced me. My characters I draw are usually creatures that look cat like and stand up and act like humans. I always think of them having personality traits and characteristics similar to humans. This is probably come from playing Ratchet and clank a lot, it was one of the first console games I ever played.

Ratchet from Ratchet and Clank

I can see how this has influenced me as looking at some of my really old drawing you could tell that they were certain animals even though they talked and sometimes walked like people. But later on my characters became more humanised and looked less like one animal and more like maybe another spices.

This is my character for my game unit. The face is kind of similar to ratchets but when I noticed I did this I tried to make my characters more in my style and less how Ratchet looks. I am trying to do my own style so I don't want it too similar. But I didn't even realised that I had been influenced this much by a game.

This is another character from my game this is probably one that is closer to how Ratchet looks then some of my other characters.

This is the final design for my main character for my game.

Dave White

Dave White

Dave White is an artist. He was born in Liverpool in 1971. He manly works with modern culture. He went to art school when he was 16. He mostly uses oil paints for his work. He had his first exhibition when he was 18. It was titled "Animals and Other Thingies".
He has won 5 awards for his art work. One was in 1997 for young artists "animals in art". Another was 1993,1992 and then two in 1991.

Some quotes from dave white

"There's a lot of trash, a lot of debris, a lot of sentimental things that mean something to somebody, everywhere.”
“We see it as a tool to convince people during dry summers that their sprinkling during the daytime hours was not beneficial to them or to the utility. They're wasting their water. They're wasting our water.”

This is one I like. Parts of this painting are very detailed like the face and feet, but other parts are a bit messy like the wings. But I think it works well together.

I really like this painting. The cougar almost looks like its in the rain but the colour is dripping off him. Its quite detailed.
This one has less drips/splats on it. I think this makes it look more realistic but it still has a slight surrealism to it.
This painting looks really detailed and short of has a graffiti style affect. He has added the drips again. I like this affect, it makes it look like its still being painted/ the paint is running off it.
